Btw guys, I've ordered my Slash album.  And, of course, I took the Deluxe one ;)

Nice! You've got to tell us how it is when you get it home.
I might buy it too if it's some good songs and a lot of good rock...

Actually, all the songs are on Youtube lol.
Well, I'll do my review when I'll have it. :)

(gives links to download the files at multiple places)

- REVIEW -

01. Ian Astbury - Ghost

I would be lying if I would say that I hate this song.  It's pretty catchy, good vocals and pretty cool guitar riffs.  Good opening to the album.  Thumb up.

9/10

02. Ozzy Osbourne - Crucify The Dead

Ozzy's backz! Hahaha.  Ozzy's vocals has always been noticeable between hundreds of other vocalists.  I love it.  Music-wise, the song is kind of weird.  It starts slow and progress to hard rock and back to slow then back to hard again.  I don't have mixed feelings about this song : it's great!

9.5/10

03. Fergie - Beautiful Dangerous

First female vocals on the album.  Good vocals. The song starts with a mix of a slow tempo electro song with a mix of guitar.  Not bad.  The bridge and chorus are my favorite parts of the song.  Pretty catchy.  But, that doesn't mean that it's bad.  It's pretty good.

9/10

04. Myles Kennedy - Back From Cali

The song starts slowly.  At first, I thought it would be boring and when I was about to press "Next", the song went into a pretty strong guitar.  I can't say that it's a bad song but it isn't as good as the first ones.  Why?  I said it already : the slow parts throw me a little off...

8/10

05. Chris Cornell - Promise

Oh boy, the song starts with bass playing slooooooooooowwwwwly.  Then, Slash's guitar is added.  I don't really like this song.  Too melow to my tastes (read : too slow).  Production-wise, it isn't bad but just isn't my taste.  Extra points to chorus.

6.5/10

06. Andrew Stockdall - By The Sword

This song is like "Back From Cali", it starts slow then every instruments is added one after another and around 1:15, the (good) heavy guitar is added.  I'm habitually not a fan of slow songs or ballads but this one is pretty good.  I like it.  Just one thing about the song though : In some parts, the vocals seems off.

8.25/10

07. Adam Levine - Gotten

OK, this is really not my kind of music at all.  This is a ballad with mellow guitar and fitting vocals.  The kind of pop/rock songs you would hear from your regular large public radio broadcasting.  Sorry, but this is really boring.  Bonus point for the vocals.

4/10

08. Lemmy Kilmister - Doctor Alibi

OK, we're back to business!  This song is energy-packed and silly lyrics and vocals.  I love the vocals a lot btw.  They are weird, they fit the music and with Slash's guitar.  I really like that song!

9.5/10

09. Dave Grohl & Duff McKagan - Watch This Dave

Here we have a pretty amazing intrumental song whre Dave Grohl is a drummer and Duff McKagan.  I'm not a musician so I cannot judge if the drum or the bass is really that good.  What I can say is the song has a lot of amazing riffs and guitar works by Slash.  However, those riffs, even if they seem complicated can sound a bit annoying...

9/10

10. Kid Rock - I Hold On

You know the pop/rock they always broadcast on the radio.  Well, you can consider this song the perfect cliché of those songs.  That is the main reason I don't really like that song.  I thought that, with Kid Rock, that this song will be pretty amazing but I was wrong.  Can we change the channel already?

5/10

11. M. Shadows - Nothing To Say

Holy... this is ear-gasmic.  This is what we could expect with the singer of an heavy metal band called Avenged Sevenfold.  It's pretty heavy, catchy and VERY good vocals.  Very ear-pleasing!  This is the song I enjoy the most up-to-date!

10/10

12. Myles Kennedy - Starlight

What would you expect from the name of the song?  A ballad.  Exactly, this is what this song is.  VERY SLOW song.  I could fell right now on my bed and sleep soundly 'til the next morning... or until the chorus?  The chorus is slow but has heavy guitars and then falls slow again after the chorus.  After the second chorus it gets good but takes a bit long before getting there...
6.5/10

13. Rocco Deluca - Saint Is A Sinner Too

Female vocals, again, which is a plus but this is yet another song taht starts slowly and also pretty short (3:25).  The only good part would be part the 2min mark.  But still, this song is pretty weak and I think it was the only song I couldn't survive until the end...  So, a big boo to this one.

2/10

14. Iggy Pop - We're All Gonna Die

Last track of the regular edition and it ends on a pretty catchy note.  The song isn't the best around but it sure can grab some attention.  It got some nice guitar work and great male vocals (underlined male just in-case you would think that it would be a female...).  Certainly one of the pretty good songs of the album here.

8.5/10

15. Koshi Inaba - Sahara (ENGLISH VERSION)

So, this the first bonus track and also the pièce of résistance.  The why of this thread exists on B'z Net Party.  Very nice vocals by 178 as usual.  Its English is as nice as before. The song is pretty catchy and got some nice energy to share.  A very good song that makes Koshi a bit more known worldwide!

9.5/10

Credit-wise, Koshi is credited as the vocalist but there are no credits as who wrote the song.  Is it S. Hudson (credited in every single songs in the regular tracks) or Tak or Slash?  Nothing is said about it which is sad.  Tak wasn't thanked so I don't thing he had anything to do with this collaboration.

16. Alice Cooper & Nicole Scherzinger - Baby Can't Drive

Damn, this one is pretty amazing.  It's filled with energy and both male and female vocals are incredible and fits together perfectly.  One of the best song on the album.

10/10

17. Fergie & Cypress Hill - Paradise City

Second song of the Sahara single in Japan but yet isn't included on it lol.  The song features some "rappy" vocals with an heavy rock tune and the female vocals are a nice touch to the male rap/vocals.  I love this too as starnge as it seem.  Pretty amazing song I must say.

9.5/10

Overall

Oh wow, 73min of hard rock material.  I really liked that album overal.  Slash is as amazing as ever : great guitar work all around.  I would recommand this album to any Hard rock and Slash fans.  I would also recommand this to B'z fans to get to have Koshi's English Sahara.  You cannot get better than that from Slash.

Overall rating : 8.5/10

Top 5 :
"Ghost"
"Baby Can't Drive"
"Beautiful Dangerous"
"Nothing To Say"
"Sahara"

Honorable mentions :
"Crucify The Dead", "Paradise City" and "Doctor Alibi"

Bottom 3 :
"Saint Is A Sinner Too"
"I Hold On"
"Gotten".

THIS ALBUM GETS MY SEAL OF APPROVAL
Didn't post my usual seal of approval because it concerns only B'z hehehe

Bravo Lebon ! C'est du beau travail ! Une vraie pièce de résistance !  :)

Your canadian version is the best! I like the little sticker so much, written in English and in French!

I saw the album in my shop and it was a little sad with its only 14 tracks... Ah Europe, you are the richest continent but always get the less bonuses...

About Sahara, Matsumoto has nothing to do with this project, so it's normal if he's not mentioned. About the lyrics, it's clear that Inaba wrote the japanese, but it would be also clear that he's the author of the english, don't you think? I think Slash has come with musical ideas and each singer has written the lyrics. And as we know, Inaba enjoys the english writing. (about S. Hudson, it's the real name of Slash, so it seems normal he would be credited in every song)

But maybe one day we'll learn that Matsumoto wrote secretly the lyrics! Who knows?

Koshi sure came up with the Japanese but what about English... you can't say if it's a translation or not so...
S. Hudson is Slash's real name... hahahaha didn't thought about that.

I really think that Inaba wrote the lyrics. We know that at the beginning of B'z he wrote first the lyrics in English and then translated in Japanese. So it wouldn't have been difficult to him to write Sahara once again in English. And the most important thing is, I think, that he created the "singing line" as he always does for B'z while Slash did the music. The singing line is the same in both versions, so he's the only one who could adapt the lyrics to this line, I guess.

Can someone share the lyrics to the song (English version)? I've been searching online, but can't find it.
Thanks!  :)
