B'z at French J-music Awards 2009: the results

Hi folks!

Please check the results of the French J-music Awards here in English. You'll find all results and analysises (ages and sexes of voters...) by Shito the organizer.

As I said on B'z no bise, B'z makes progress. Last year the band was selected just twice for the best single of the year 2008 with BURN-Fumestu no Face and the best best-of with The Best Ultra Pleasure.

This year we had a single, Ichibu to Zenbu, an album, MAGIC, a concert DVD, Pleasure 2008 GLORY DAYS.

Last year BURN was 12th and this year Ichibu to Zenbu is 4th!

The 1st place of L'Arc-en-Ciel is normal and to be respected. The band has come to Europe, to Paris and has done a great concert then a good DVD. For sure Pleasure 2008 GLORY DAYS is better but its place seems logical.

And if you look good you'll find Koshi Inaba in the list... but no trace of Tak Matsumoto... Didn't anyone vote for him?

Then the most awaited artist or band in France this year, you'll find B'z after the 30th place. That seems logical. Who really believes B'z will come in France or Europe in 2009? But who knows later... If you look good once more you'll find our favorite singer in the list but where is his guitarist pal?

So these results are interesting and we'll see next year if B'z is able to get higher. It will depend on the year 2010. If 2010 is a solo year with new albums from Matsumoto and Inaba, B'z won't be very awaited but the two men could be more discovered. We'll try so support them next year!

thanks for sharing that information.
Sorry to be pessimistic, no, I would call it being realistic, but B'z didn't really make any progress at all.
Those who voted Ichibu to Zenbu have probably watched the drama with Yamashita Tomohisa - Buzzer Beat - thus came to know the song and liked it because they associated it with Yamashita Tomohisa/the drama in general. Seeing as how 2/3 of the people who voted are female, it makes even more sense to me that this is the reason for it.

Maybe you're right, I didn't mention the drama Buzzer Beat but I didn't forget it. I think that these people liked Ichibu to Zenbu not only because they liked Buzzer Beat but because they liked the song for itself.

Many of them have discovered B'z since then and my impression would be that they like B'z. They just don't say: "I like Ichibu to Zenbu because of Yamashita Tomohisa and actually I don't care about B'z." What I hear is more : "I have seen the drama and discovered B'z, I want to know more about it because I like it."

Then, ACTION wasn't mentionned in 2008 because the organizer knew this album wouldn't have a chance. (its release was late in december 2008 but MAGIC's release was late too in november 2009). We can see this year that MAGIC was in the selection and its 5th place means something, I think. If Magic had reached the 23rd place I wouldn't say there's any progress.

But that's right, I may be too optimistic.

Seeing as how 2/3 of the people who voted are female, it makes even more sense to me that this is the reason for it.

By the way, don't forget the comment on the best single:

"A swarm of extremely devoted fangirls of the GazettE went all-out, which also resulted in many fraudulent registrations and other cheating attempts. But even after removing all the bogus votes, the band still sits at the top of the ranking. The male audience preferred abingdon boys school and B'z, while VAMPS and GReeeeN got decent support from both genders."

I think the results are good.
B'z in a poll outside japan... i think that means something 

But i think too, that most of them mentioned B'z last year, because of Buzzer Beat. When there are a few new fans now, why not?

Yeah, the Buzzer Beat thing is really funny. I don't really personally know what it's about, but it got a lot of hype for the songs outside of Japan.

The results are actually pretty good considering what kind of band B'z is. I mean, most western audiences get into these really japanese, vk bands etc. and B'z isn't really a niche band like that. I think it has a much more wider appear than to people who'd vote on those polls.
