I like japanese movies, too, recently watched the followings:

Kiiroi namida- which is a nice movie- story from the 60's, about the dreams of 5 young people, nice soundtrack as well, the actors are from Jpop band Arashi among others. Very slow paced in a way but i like that.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0879825/

Tada, kimi wo aishiteru- this is a very sad and touching movie, love story,  and as in most Japanese movies the ending is quite sad. The movie is quite subtle Here is the link http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0872022/

Tokyo Tawa- Tokyo Tower- another really great movie, touching story about a close mother/ son relationship through the years- the movie is also a tearjerker,  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0820158/

Ashita no Kiuku- with Ken Watanabe who many know from Last Samurai- he is acting as a businessman who gets alzheimer, he won several prices for this movie, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0494640/

i like japanese movies, found them quite touching and the acting far better than in hollywood movie, too.

Ooh, somehow I missed this thread! :P  I'm a big fan of dramas because they always make me feel happy when something good happens.  It puts me in a good mood, hehe. ;D  I'm glad it is summer time so that I can catch up with my drama-watching (there was no time when there was school).

My favorite drama is Nodame Cantabile.  Another notable drama is Orange Days.  I just finished watching "Security Police" starring Junichi Okada today. Frankly, I was disappointed by many things in this drama. :(

Currently, I am watching Pride (starring Kimura Takuya) and it's really good so far~

My faves J-Dorama are
Anything with Abe Hiroshi in it: My Little Chef, TRICK series, Kekkon Dekinai Otoko, etc
Lunch Queen, Home & Away, Furuhata Ninzaburo series etc, so many!!

Lol, Keen, we seem to share some interests, Abe Hiroshi is one of my fave actor (the other one is Kazunari Ninomiya). I'm curently watching Kekkon dekinai otoko.
I watch a lot of jdramas, and lately I've been preferring them compared to American ones, because they've always an end, are quite short, with less risk to jump the shark XD

yepp, i'm big fan of J-doramas and movies.
somehow guys & girls do have different taste.

here are my suggestion:

Mouhohan [CopyCat Killer]
- nakai masahiro, yoshino kimura etc.(184.75 MB)
it's not horror... but suspense thriller.

sorry it's LQ files.. it's for my promo only.
you could buy DVD if u love it.

here is review by my good friend yanie about Nakai's Mohouhan [CopyCat Killer]:

Title: Mohouhan [Copycat Killer]
Theatre Premiere: June 8th, 2002
Original Novel by: Miyuki Miyabe
Genre: Suspense thriller

Casts:
Nakai Masahiro
Yamazaki Tsutomu
Kimura Yoshino
Ito Misaki
Taguchi Junnosuke (KATTUN)

Synopsis:
In a park, a woman's severed right arm with a shoulder bag is discovered by a young boy walking his dog.

The game begins....

The police conduct an investigation of the female abductions and murders that are occurring one after another. A television commentary program (wide show) receives a call from the culprit himself, and with the use of a voice changer, it is declared that the world's first live murder will be broadcasted over various forms of mass communication, including cellular phone. When an investigation of a fatal car accident killing both driver and passenger uncovers a body in the trunk, the two are thought of to be the mysterious culprits who conducted the serial murders. Case closed. Or is it?

review:

Sugooooooiiiii!!!!!! This is a mind-boggling movie....so, if you're not a fan of this kind of movie, you might go sleep^^; But, if you love this genre...you'll definitely enjoy this very much, like I do!!! This was #1 box office movie in 2002. The novel was best-selling. And Miyuki Miyabe became the Biggest Tax Payer 2002 in japan, in the writer category. While Nakai was #3 biggest tax payer in the johnny's office, that year, beating some of the directors of the office.

There are so many depths and symbolic things in the movie. And it even still left so many puzzles even after the movie ended. The timelines are also quite mixed up. You have to watch the movie at least, twice.
I love the way they show these serial incidents....then after 40 minutes of the movie, all the serial incidents are re-showed again, but this time...also showed what actually happened in the backstage (what the real culprits has done)!

I'm also amazed on how the main character does not show up until the 43rd minute x) And we were introduced to Peace's character by showing us his masterpieces, his original criminal works...rather than showing us a lot of Peace's scenes himself^^

Nakai is chooo kakkoiii in this movie! He acted as this intelligent and cold-blooded murderer, plain cool! It is said he almost refuse this role, coz he's not comfortable with serious roles...but, the director keep asking him, saying he can't picture any other actor to play Peace's role. Well...it really pays off....Nakai is definitely perfect for Peace's role!

Anyway, just like Nakai said in the press conference, "Do watch this when you're in a good and healthy condition," ^_____^

Anyway, The movie DID fast-forwards the whole story. The actual book consists of 2 volumes, the first volume is about Amikawa Koichi (Peace)'s childhood, but it was only shown as flashback in the movie.

I think the depth of the movie, is cynical critics to the media. And it is abt MEDIA. The internet, the cellphone, TV, papers, that shows up in the movie, indicates this. Peace tries to challenge the media that even by he himself allowed them to broadcast the LIVE murders, the police won't be able to find him or find proofs that he's the murderer. He proudly feels he has created the most perfect crime of all time. He even has the courage to appear live on TV station...

The people who investigated him, are really sure he's the murderer but they have no proofs. The character played by Kimura Yoshino finally think of a trick to get him admit his crime...

Yoshino's character announced that the serial murders are copycat of a crime that has existed before, and accused of PEACE as a copycat killer. Peace felt insulted and he reflexively denied, "it was my original piece work!!" thus revealing his own identity.
When he realized what he has done, he decided to commit suicide rather to be captured.

Why his head ridiculously separated from his body and exploded on the air, like a silly animation??
I read somewhere before, that it was a symbol of how media likes to exagerrate the facts they have and make fuss of evrything^^

Like I said, there are lots of symbolic stuff here, that cannot be interpret only by the eyes, but also by brain thinking.

That's why, Nakai said it is better for evryone to watch the movie in a healthy, fit condition. :)
